A Cinderella Story (2004): High-achieving Sam (Hilary Duff) has a tough life, as her stepmother forces her to work long shifts at her late father's diner while also serving as a maid at home. Sam finds comfort with an online friend, who reveals that he goes to her high school, and when they agree to meet at their school's masquerade dance, Sam is shocked to find out that her Internet buddy is actually the coolest guy in school, Austin Ames (Chad Michael Murray). Forced to leave early, Sam leaves her cellphone behind, giving Austin the clue he needs to track her down. Honestly, Sam would probably be better off without him. Come on, he can't tell who she is behind that itsy-bitsy mask of hers? He's clearly not that bright.

* Beastly (2011): In this twist on Beauty and the Beast, Alex Pettyfer plays Kyle, a cruel, shallow and handsome teenager who is turned "ugly" and "banished" until he can find someone to love him. Really, he just gets some totally rad tattoos and piercings and moves into a gorgeous brownstone in Brooklyn. The horror! Over the next year, Kyle manages to overcome his superficiality to fall in love with . . . an absolutely gorgeous, sweet girl from his high school (Vanessa Hudgens). Yeah, that must have been a real struggle for him. Let that be a lesson to him.
